Things To Do
Swim, Climb, Kayak, Run, Cycle, Walk, Eat, Drink, Relax! There are no shortage of things to do in Shieldaig, situated amidst some of the most magnificent coastal and mountain scenery in the whole of the UK. Just a short distance further inland are the Torridon Hills comprising well known peaks such as Beinn Alligin, Sgurr Mhor, Liathach and Beinn Eighe.
The area is very popular with hillwalkers, climbers and cyclists and there are many routes of varying degrees of seriousness. Those who seek a real challenge and wish to bag a few Munros or ride some serious climbs will certainly not be disappointed, whilst others who prefer something less ambitious will also find plenty of scope.
The main part of Shieldaig village itself is just a short walk down the road from the cottage and there is a very attractive main street which follows the shore of Loch Shieldaig. On one side of the street there is a pleasant grassed area giving access to the water's edge whilst on the other side is a row of white cottages.
At the far end of the village there is a slipway for launching boats - and there is a small private slipway just in front of Ceol na Mara itself. Hence there are plenty of opportunities for sailing, kayaking, sea fishing, etc. If you are looking for an organised adventure, guidance or instruction in or around the water or on land, Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures are here to help with a vast amount of experience and a fleet of kayaks, canoes, safety equipment etc
In the main street of the village just a few minutes' walk from Ceol na Mara is the local bar and restaurant, hotel, well equipped shop, and famous Nannys Cafe!
